SInce 2008
At the time of its opening, the record industry has just taken many heavy blows as the last wave of stores had heavily closed, due to the large spike in digital downloading. Originally opening at the Pine Street location, there were very few places within the city limits to get vinyl at all.
Initially a specialty shop to get specifically DIY Punk Rock, Heavy Metal and Hardcore titles, VC gave local groups a bit more shelf space to let their titles shine, and let so many local labels thrive. The shop has never stopped growing, be it the quantity of albums on the shelf, the expansion of genres, the addition of selling online and eventually moving locations in 2022.
The initial store was 400 square feet on Pine Street and was the sole location of the store from 2008 until Spring of 2022, when the move was made downtown to 300 East Grace Street in the Arts District. The expansion lead to a store front sales floor 4 times the size of the original, and expanded workspace into the back that has allowed the growth of mail order potential. A brand new webstore was built in the fall of 2025 which is the newest expansion of VC, hosting the best online experience to match the unique in store experience.
